Healthy Alternative Egg Roll Bowl Ingredients Recipe: Coconut Aminos vs. Soy Sauce

Most of my healthy low-carb dinner recipes call for substitute ingredients. For example, I love egg rolls, but the deep-fried dough is terrible for carb-conscious dieters. Because I love my low-carb diet, ditching the deep-fry makes this egg roll boll siginificantly healthier.Similarly, Soy Sauce is high in sodium, so using Coconut Aminos as a substitute is a great way to lower sodium in this healthy dinner. Coconut Aminos is a soy-, wheat- and gluten-free savory and salty sauce made from the fermented sap of coconut palm and sea salt. Best of all, it has one-third the sodium content of traditional soy sauce, and tastes nothing like coconut!

Ground Meat for Chinese/Asian Style Egg Roll-in-a-Bowl Recipe

Another healthy option is, as usual, ground turkey or even shaved chicken instead of beef. If you want to make this egg roll bowl as healthy as possible, use shaved chicken. But for this recipe, specifically, I find the ground sausage to be really delicious, if not a little higher in fat and calorie content. You can opt for ground turkey, ground sausage or ground beef, in that order, for a healthy egg roll meat choice. There's less fat in ground turkey: about 7g less fat per cup than beef. This usually means less flavor, but since we are going to saute the meat in a classic Chinese mixture of ginger, sesame oil, carrots and garlic it will take on plenty of delicious Asian flavor.

OK, time for the ingredients and instructions below. Enjoy this healthy, low-carb egg roll filling bowl.
