Bisquick Substitute: Almond Flour, Baking Powder, Salt & Oil/Butter
If you're familiar with my recipes you know by now that my favorite thing to do is substitute high-calorie and high-fat ingredients with healthy alternatives. It's a great way to stay healthy and still be able to enjoy your favorite meals. For example, margarine for butter.
Substituting regular wheat flour with almond flour is another great example, and I do it all the time.
Most cheeseburger pie recipes call for Bisquick, which is mostly wheat four and therefore a little too high in carbs for me, personally. Almond flour, on the other hand, is rich in vitamin E and magnesium, lower in carbs and calories and an overall healthier alternative. My Bisquick Substitute calls for almond flour, but you can of course use whatever flour you want!
This cheeseburger pie recipe calls for turkey or beef, so if you're counting calories you'll probably want to opt for turkey since it's much healthier. One final healthy substitute I make in this recipe is fat-free cheddar cheese, which tops this dish nicely. Ok, on to the ingredients and instructions. Enjoy!
